With Google Places, Concerns Rise That Google Just Wants To Link To Its Own Content
Rafer sez:
This is but one aspect of a huge issue, namely Semantic Search Provides no Clicks (self-link, sry). Semantic search, even in its limited, nascent form, provides answers not lists of links to click on. When Google stops providing any clickthroughs, how does that economic model fly?
Sawickipedia: @Rafer let along the issue and danger of building a business on someone else’s platform. SEO businesses are built on top of Google and are subject to the same whims Lookery was with regards to Facebook. Foursquare avoids the danger that Yelp has by being a non-search/SEO play. Not sure I have the answer, but a lot of great looking SEO businesses from the last 5 years are likely to be at risk at seeing their businesses go poof as google, microsoft/bing move their search engines towards information portals.
